Getting Started
Q: What is Herf Harmony? A: Herf Harmony is a social app for cigar enthusiasts that helps you discover cigar lounges, track your cigar collection, connect with other cigar lovers, organize smoking events (herfs), and share your experiences with the community.
Q: How do I create an account? A: Herf Harmony offers several secure sign-in options:

Email & Password — create an account with your email address and a password.

Google Sign-In — sign in with your existing Google account.

Apple Sign-In — sign in with your Apple ID (available primarily on iOS devices).
Just tap "Sign In," choose your preferred method, and follow the prompts to set up your profile with your name and location.
Q: I forgot my password. How do I reset it? A: If you signed up with an email and password, tap "Forgot Password?" on the sign-in screen and enter your email address. You'll receive a password reset link to set a new password. (If you sign in with Google or Apple, manage your password through that provider instead.)
Q: Is Herf Harmony free to use? A: Yes, Herf Harmony is free to download and use.
Cigar Library
Q: How do I add cigars to my collection? A: Go to the Library page, tap the "+" button, search for a cigar or create a new one if it's not in our database. You can add details like purchase price, date, and store location.
Q: What are the tabs in the Library? A: The Library has three tabs:

Collection — cigars you own or have smoked.

Wishlist — cigars you want to try. When you smoke a wishlist cigar, you can easily move it to your collection.

Discover — browse and find new cigars to add to your library.
Q: How is the Library Discover tab different from the Discover navigation tab? A: The Library's Discover tab helps you find cigars to add to your personal library. The standalone Discover tab in the bottom navigation lets you browse the full cigar catalog using search and filters.
Q: Can I rate and review cigars? A: Yes! Tap on any cigar to view its details, then use the star rating system or write a detailed review to share your experience with the community.
Q: How do I track my cigar purchases? A: When adding a cigar, you can enter the purchase price, date, store location, and quantity. The Analytics page will calculate your total collection value.
Finding Lounges & Stores
Q: How does the Map feature work? A: The Map page shows cigar lounges and stores near your location, sorted by distance. You can search by name, address, or city, and filter between lounges and stores.
Q: What does "Find More" do? A: The "Find More" button searches Google Places to discover additional cigar lounges in your area that aren't yet in our database. New lounges are automatically added for the whole community.
Q: How do I leave a review for a lounge? A: Tap on any lounge to view its details, then tap "Write Review." You can rate the atmosphere, service, selection, and amenities.
Q: Can I save my favorite lounges? A: Yes! Tap the heart icon on any lounge's detail page to add it to your favorites for quick access later.
Herfs (Social Events)
Q: What is a Herf? A: A "herf" is a casual cigar smoking gathering. It's a term used in the cigar community for getting together with friends to enjoy cigars.
Q: How do I create a Herf? A: Tap "Create New Herf" from the Home or Social page. Enter a title, description, and set the date and time. For the venue, you can pick a lounge from our database or enter a custom venue name. Optionally set a maximum number of attendees. You can make it public or private and invite specific friends.
Q: How do I join someone else's Herf? A: Browse herfs on the Social page and tap "Join" on any public event you'd like to attend. For private herfs, you'll need an invitation from the host.
Q: Can I edit or cancel my Herf? A: Yes, as the host you can edit your herf details or cancel the event at any time by tapping on the event and selecting the edit option.
Q: What do the event status badges mean?

Friends & Social
Q: How do I find and add friends? A: Go to the Social page, tap the search icon, and search for users by email or name. Tap "Add Friend" to send a friend request.
Q: How do I discover other users? A: Go to Social > Directory tab. The User Directory lists members who have set their profile to public. Each listing shows the user's name and their location (if they've chosen to share it). Tap "Add Friend" next to anyone to send them a friend request.
Q: How do I accept friend requests? A: Go to Social > Requests tab to see your pending requests. Requests are split into two sections:

Incoming — requests others have sent you. Tap "Accept" or "Decline" for each.

Outgoing — requests you've sent that are still pending. You can cancel an outgoing request if you change your mind before it's accepted.
Q: Can I block someone? A: Yes, you can block users from your friends list by tapping the options menu next to their name and selecting "Block."
Messaging
Q: How do I send a message? A: Go to Messages, tap "New Conversation," select a friend, and start chatting. You can also tap the message icon next to any friend's name.
Q: Can I create group chats? A: Yes! When creating a new conversation, select "Group" and add multiple friends. You can give your group a custom name.
Q: Can I edit or delete messages? A: Yes, tap and hold on your own messages to edit or delete them.
Photos
Q: How do I share a photo? A: Go to Photos, tap the upload button, select a photo, and add a caption. You can optionally tag the photo to a cigar, a herf, or a lounge. Choose whether to make it public or private.
Q: Can I like and comment on photos? A: Yes! Tap the heart icon to like a photo and tap the comment icon to leave a comment.
Q: How do I delete my photos? A: Go to Photos > My Photos tab, tap on the photo you want to remove, and select "Delete."
Notifications
Q: What notifications will I receive? A: You can receive notifications for herf reminders (15 minutes before an event), new messages, friend requests, and when someone joins your herf.
Q: How do I turn notifications on or off? A: Go to Profile > Notifications. Toggle push notifications on or off based on your preference.
Q: How do I test if notifications are working? A: In Profile > Notifications, tap "Send Test Notification" to verify notifications are set up correctly.
Analytics
Q: What does the Analytics page show? A: Analytics shows your cigar statistics including total cigars, average ratings, collection value, and breakdowns by strength, origin, wrapper type, and price range.
Q: How is my collection value calculated? A: Collection value is based on the purchase prices you've entered when adding cigars to your library.
Privacy & Account
Q: How do I change my profile picture? A: Go to Profile and tap the camera icon on your profile picture. Select a new image and upload it.
Q: Can I control who sees my profile? A: Yes! Go to Profile > Privacy Settings. You can control four separate settings:

Profile Visibility — choose Everyone, Friends Only, or Private. Only profiles set to "Everyone" appear in the Social Directory; "Friends Only" and "Private" profiles are hidden from the Directory.

Library Visibility — controls whether others can see your cigar collection and wishlist.

Location Sharing — controls whether your location is shown on your profile and in the Directory.

Activity Status — controls whether others can see your recent activity.
Q: How do I sign out? A: Go to Profile and tap "Sign Out" at the bottom of the page.
Q: How do I delete my account? A: Contact us at info@herfharmony.com to request account deletion.
Troubleshooting
Q: Why can't I see nearby lounges? A: Make sure you've granted location permissions to Herf Harmony. Go to your device settings to enable location access for the app.
Q: Photos aren't loading. What should I do? A: Check your internet connection and try refreshing the page. If the issue persists, try signing out and back in.
Q: I'm not receiving notifications. How do I fix this? A: Ensure notifications are enabled in Profile > Notifications AND in your device's system settings for Herf Harmony.
